All aboard for adventure and discovery! Welcome to the Stillson River Railroad Company, the largest train exhibit in the Intermountain West, housed at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum.
This captivating 3,000-square-foot display features over 1,200 feet of track winding through a detailed landscape of over 4,500 trees, 200+ buildings, 200+ cars, and more than 1,000 figurines—each piece sparking curiosity and storytelling.
Imagined as a mythical Virginia port city where the Stillson River meets the Atlantic Ocean, this intricate O-scale (1:48 ratio) model brings history and engineering to life. Since its start in 2007, over 50,000 hours have gone into making this exhibit a masterpiece that invites children to play, learn, and dream big. Whether students and families marvel at the design or dive into imaginative play, the Stillson River Railroad is an experience like no other.
